Snowflakes and Heart2Heart

Heart2Heart Challenge Blog has posted the first theme for 2013. I am so excited to be the 'B' team leader for this challenge blog. This weeks theme is 'Snow Much Fun'.

While Christmas is over, it is never too early to get that stash of Christmas cards made. I fell in love with several on Pinterest and decided to make a little card or two based on Mary Fish's card I pinned a couple of weeks ago.

The pinned card's snowflakes were heat embossed with gold embossing powder, however, I was thinking of a simple stamping version. A card anyone with a snowflake stamp, a few ink colors and coordinating cardstock scraps (I am totally into using scraps - you know January, refresh, restart, well, okay you get the drift) and neutral cardstock.

My first card is Cocoa and Desert Sand. Snowflakes (D1480) is my stamp of choice as this stamp is so versatile. You can make flowers with it -- oh another day another post.

I random stamped the snowflakes, leaving an open space for the Winter Wonderland sentiment. I one of the large snowflakes in the upper corner and cascaded the others along the left side and few on the right. I added Mocha Opaques to the center of only one style of snowflake.

The Desert Sand cardstock scrap was placed behind the snowflake piece with a piece of color ready seam binding. I love using the color ready seam binding ribbon as I an change the color to match my project - YEA!! I tied the double using a technique shared on this video.

This card worked well in black and white, too. What about a set in various colors, blue comes to mind, never enough time!!

The middle sentiment piece is popped up from the cardbase (a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2") creating depth.
